Here’s what Nicôle Lecky and her on-screen fiancé Dino Kelly bring to their roles in Sweetpea
In Sweetpea, Nicôle Lecky is a former school bully turned luxury estate agent. She managed to turn her life for the better. However, her attitude remains unchanged, significantly impacting the show’s main character.
Although Lecky’s character appears to have it all, there are underlying issues in her life. Like, her relationship with Marcus, portrayed by Dino Kelly, seems to be facing difficulties. According to Hello Magazine, there are deeper issues between Julia and Marcus than initially apparent.
Lecky as Julia is an ex-school bully to Sweetpea protagonist Rhiannon Lewis, played by Ella Purnell. Talking about Lewis as a character, she is an ordinary woman until she starts living a double life as a serial killer.
As in the Sweetpea novel written by C.J. Skuse on which the whole series is made, Julia has a huge role in Lewis’s transformation into a murderer. Obviously, this story is also portrayed on-screen, and Lecky as Julia will have a huge impact on the show’s main character.
Julia’s bullying has a profound and lasting impact on Rhiannon, resulting in the development of anxiety and self-doubt. Moreover, the narrative illustrates how Julia’s actions during their youth have transformed Rhiannon into a timid and repressed individual.
When Rhiannon and Julia encounter each other again as adults, Julia’s patronizing demeanor reignites Rhiannon’s long-buried anger, driving her toward violent acts in her quest for revenge. Additionally, Julia’s character catalyzes Rhiannon’s explosive outbursts.

Julia’s role in Sweetpea is essential for understanding Rhiannon’s transformation from an overlooked woman into someone capable of extreme actions. Similarly, Kelly’s portrayal of Marcus is significant in the life of this Sky Original thriller’s protagonist.
Specifically, Marcus’ presence emphasizes Julia’s success. This further frustrates Rhiannon, who feels overshadowed by Julia’s achievements.
Eventually, Lecky’s character’s husband-to-be ends up losing his life to Rhiannon. Moreover, he becomes one of her three victims. However, the situation is far more complicated, as there is a significant amount of drama unfolding throughout the story.
After Marcus’s demise, Rhiannon and Julia are taken into custody, with Julia even fabricating a story to protect her former bully victim. She accuses her late fiancé of kidnapping. But to know the reasons behind her actions, one must go throughout the series.
