Brandon Scott Jones was born on June 6, 1984, in Bel Air, Maryland. He is well-known for his role as Captain Isaac Higgintoot in the CBS series Ghosts.
Growing up in Maryland, Jones attended the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. He started his career at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, a well-known improv and sketch comedy venue in New York and Los Angeles.
Jones led his high school drama club as president, a role he considered very important. In a conversation with The Talk, he even said,
His family consists of his father, Rick Jones, his mother, Patti Jones, and his sister, Amanda. Obviously, his parents brought them up together. Also, he has a nephew and a niece.
Jones likes to keep his family life private and doesn’t share much about them online. He is on Instagram and Facebook but hardly posts anything about his parents or siblings.
However, when Rick, Brandon’s father, stepped down from teaching after “OVER 50 FREAKIN YEARS,” Brandon shared a touching post on Instagram to mark the event. Rick retired last year, and the Ghosts actor made sure to spread the news.
Brandon Scott Jones says his family is proud of his dad Rick’s accomplishment
So, Jones posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to celebrate his father, Rick Jones, who retired after teaching in Maryland high schools for more than 50 years. As he expressed his appreciation for his dad’s commitment, the Renfield actor wrote,
After OVER 50 FREAKIN YEARS as a Maryland public high school teacher, this guy retires today.
Throughout his career, Rick wore many hats. He taught German and English, directed theater, instructed driver’s education, coached tennis, and even worked as an adjunct professor.
And Brandon is not just impressed by Rick’s range of skills, but by the enthusiasm he brought to each job. As expressed how proud he feels, he wrote,
The coolest is I get to call him MY DAD!
He also mentioned that when they’re out in public, his family often hears former students shout “Herr Jones!” to Rick, showing his dad is a “teaching CELEB!”
Brandon ended by praising his father’s impact, recognizing how he taught students to chase their dreams. He also said,
There are no words for how proud we are of him and how proud we are to be his kids.
The event’s host accidentally revealed Brandon Scott Jones’ surprise retirement party for his father
Jones told a funny and touching tale on The Talk about his dad’s retirement party, which took an unexpected turn. His father chose to retire after 52 years as a committed high school German teacher.
This led Brandon, his mom, and his sister to organize a big surprise party. But as Brandon explained, things didn’t go according to plan.
During the interview, Brandon said,
He explained how his family worked hard to keep the event under wraps, even navigating numerous “hurdles” to ensure his father wouldn’t suspect a thing. In his words,
Even though Jones and his family tried hard to keep his father in the dark about the retirement party, the Isn’t It Romantic star let it slip by accident. He said that during a TV interview when asked about his plans, he ended up saying,
Luckily, Jones’ dad didn’t catch on to this, which kept the surprise party under wraps. Yet, the secret came out at the last minute. It happened on the day of the event. The actor mentioned that everything looked good until they got to the restaurant. Brandon said with a chuckle,
In case you didn’t know, Jones’ parents’ favorite Ghosts character isn’t their son
- During his appearance on The Talk, Jones shared that his character Issac from Ghosts isn’t the top pick for his parents. His mom and dad prefer Hetty, played by Rebecca Wisocky.
- They like Wisocky’s character so much that they named their new golden doodle “Hetty.” Jones added that their family’s new pet also wears a collar like Wisocky’s character in Ghosts.
- Also, Jones mentioned their new family dog’s collar has a flower in it because Flower, played by Sheila Carrasco, is their second favorite character from the CBS show. So, hilariously he is not even their second pick in CBS Ghosts.
